Store Product Categories
Store product categories are used to help your customers navigate the storefront. You can create multiple categories and create parent-child relationships.
When creating ecommerce store products, category will be a required field, so we recommend creating your store categories prior to creating your store products.
To create a new store product category, to go Settings > Ecommerce > Store Categories and click Add Store Category.
To edit an existing category, use the ellipses icon on the right side of the table.
There are two required fields for each store category. You must enter the following fields:
Category Name - The name will show up on the storefront to your customers.
SEO Name - The SEO name will automatically populate when you enter your category name, but can be edited as needed.
You can add more optional fields to help make your categories stand out and help search engine optimization, including Description, Meta Description, and Meta Key Words.
You can select a Parent category if you have more than one category. The parent category will show up in the main menu header of your storefront. The child categories will display when you hover over the parent category.
The Sort Order determines what category displays first from left to right in the top menu.
Add an image to the product category and make it a Featured Category if you want it to show on the home page in the featured category section. You can make a category a featured category by going to Settings > System Design & Info > Store Set up & Design and adding your category to the Featured Categories tab.
Example
For my storefront, I’ve created a Custom Reports store category, nested underneath my Service Items parent category. I’ve also added this category as a ‘Featured Category’ on my Store Setup & Design page. Below is what the category looks like on my storefront, with that setup.
