Milestones

Project milestones serve as the umbrella that your tasks sit underneath. They are the larger pieces that need to be completed for your project, whereas tasks are the smaller items that make up the larger pieces of the project. When creating projects from orders, milestones can also have service tickets and line items associated with them.

  • To create a milestone, go to the Milestones tab of a project, and click the ‘Create New Milestone’ button.

    • Every milestone requires a name.

    • There are additional optional fields for each milestone that you can set depending on how you want to use the milestone.

    • The End Date field specifies when the milestone should be completed by.

    • The Orders dropdown allows you to associate the milestone with a sold order for the company the project is tied to.

      • If you select an order, you may also be able to select a service ticket from that order to associate the milestone with. If there are no service or digital media items on the order, you will not see anything populate in the Service Ticket dropdown.

    • The Description field allows you to enter any desired information for your team about the milestone.

    • The Create Service Task checkbox is only applicable if you’ve entered an End Date and have selected a Service Ticket. When checked a task will also be created for the milestone when the milestone is created.

      • If the Create Service Task option is selected, there is a second checkbox that will appear to Create Service Tasks as Dependencies. This setting is only applicable if the product the service ticket is associated with has Service Tasks. When checked, a task will be created on the project for each ‘Service Task’ on the product and will be associated with the main task as dependencies.

  • Once the milestone has been created, you can view the details and make changes by clicking on the milestone name.
