Item Product Classes

Item Product Classes are an optional level of product/ad size classification. This document will walk you through how to set up and use Item Product Classes.

  • To create new Item Product Classes, you need the User Permission ‘Product Item Class’. Once you have the permission, go to Settings > Products > Item Product Classes.

    • To create new classes, click the + Add Item Product Class button in the upper right corner. In the popup, you must enter a name, and you can also select which product type to use the class for, as well as set specific ad sizes and products to be used in the class.

      • Sizes and products can only be included in one class at a time. If a size or product is already in one class, you cannot add it to another.

    • Existing classes can be edited or disabled by clicking the ellipses icon in the table.

    • To easily see which ad sizes and products are included in which classes, you can reference the ‘Assigned Products’ table on this page. There is a record in the table for each size and product that’s included in a class. You can view the name of the product/size, as well as which class it’s currently included in.

  • Once you’ve created Item Product Classes, you can also set them on ad sizes and products directly from the size/product edit forms, rather than having to go to the Item Product Classes page every time.

    • For example, if you are editing a specific digital media product, you’ll see a single-select dropdown on the edit page called ‘Item Product Class’, where you can add the product to any of your existing classes. The same field shows up on ad sizes, as well as service and event products.

  • The Consolidated Sales Report and Consolidated Snapshot Reports both have ‘Item Product Class’ display fields that can be included in the reports. When you have this field showing, it can be included in your report PDFs and exports and will display the Item Product Class information for that particular line item.

    Note

There may be scenarios where an item could have multiple classes. For instance, if you have an Impression Digital Media product that is on Class A, and the product has two ad sizes (Banner 100x200 and Banner 200x300), that are in Class B and Class C respectively, the system will only show one class. In this case, the system will show Class A, or the class associated with the product, not the ad sizes. If an item has a unique size, such as a print ad, the system will display the class associated with the ad size.
