Setting Up and Using Commission Groups

Commission Groups are used to set commission percentages based on product. By default, a user's commission plan will determine their commission. But when an item is sold, the system will check if it is on a Commission Group, and will apply the Group percentage instead of the user's default plan. You can use Commission Groups to incentivize the sale of a particular product or to make a product non-commissionable.

To add or edit Commission Groups, go to Settings > Users > Commission Groups. To access this page, you need the User Permission 'Commission Setup'.

  • Click Add Commission Group, and enter a group name and commission percentage. Once the group has been created, use the ellipsis actions to edit the group and choose the group's products. You can also disable and enable Commission Groups on this page.

  • When editing a Commission Group, you can choose which products will be included in the group. There are two multi-selects you can use, one for Ad Items and the other for Service and Digital Media Items. Feel free to mix and match products from both of the drop-downs. All of the products chosen will use that Commission Group's percentage.

    Tip

If you want any of your products to be non-commissionable, you can set that up by using a Commission Group. Simply create the group with all of the products you do not want commissions on, and set the group percentage to 0.

    Important

The Commission Group percentage will override a user's default commission plan.

  • You can go one step further by editing a user's group percentage to be different than the group percentage. For example, let say you want to create a sales incentive to sell Widget XYZ, so you create a Commission Group percentage of 20%. Any time a user sells Widget XYZ, they will get 20%. But if one user should get 30%, you can override the group percentage on their account.

    • To edit a specific user's Commission Group percentage, you will need to navigate to that user's edit page and go to the Commissions section under User Information. There you will see all of the Commission Groups set up in your system, along with that group's default commission percent. Then, you can enter the percentage the user should receive for that Commission Group.

  • You can disable the Group at any time, which could be helpful if you want to have a Sales Campaign for a month to clear inventory, but don't want it to apply all the time.
