Task Notifications
There are two options for receiving Task Notifications within Ad Orbit. Notifications can either be set up on specific projects for all participants on the project, or they can be set up on a user basis for all project tasks that user is assigned to.
To set up Task Notifications for a specific project, open the Add/Edit Project page. Under the Notification Preferences section, you can select an Update Reminder Frequency for incomplete tasks. The options include daily, or specific days of the week.
Users will receive update reminders for any open tasks assigned to them with a start date equal to the sent date of the reminder or prior. The update reminder will ask them to update their hours and include a link to the project task.
You have the choice of entering in a Slack or Microsoft Teams Channel in addition to send the notifications to. This is not required.
If this field is left blank, the notifications will only appear under the users’ bell icon notification system within Ad Orbit.
If a channel is specified, the reminders will also be sent to the selected Slack or Teams Channel.
When a channel is specified, you’ll also receive notifications when project tasks are marked as complete.
This is a good option if you want all participants of a project to receive notifications for the project. For example, you could create a channel in Slack specifically for that project, and add all of your project participants to it. Then, you could add that channel to the project, and all of the participants will receive the task reminders and notifications when tasks are completed.
The second option for Task Notifications is on a per-user basis, and is configured on a user’s My Preferences page. On the Basic Information tab of My Preferences, you will need to enter a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel in that field. Then, go to the Site Settings tab to turn on the ‘Project Slack/Microsoft Teams Notification’ setting.
When turned on, the user will receive a Slack or Teams message for project task update reminders, if they are the user on that project task. This will be for all project tasks that they are assigned to, not just for a single project.
If the user is a manager on a project, they will also receive a message when a project task is marked as 100% completed, regardless of if they are the user assigned to the task or not.
