Project Importer

You can import project data into the system using both the standard importer and historical data tool.

  • Start the process by going to Setting > Data > Historical Data Tool. Click Create New in the Sheets section to upload your data. You can view a complete walkthrough of the Historial Data Tool here.

  • Once you have your merge sheet ready to go you can start the import process by mapping the project columns to the required columns for system import. Click Create New in the Exports section of the Historical Data Tool. Enter a name for the export, choose the merge sheet (most likely the one you just created), and select the Project Importer. Click Create.

  • Now, you will need to map the columns from your imported data to the columns required for the Project Importer. For instance, you may have a column for ‘Project’, that should match up with our ‘Project Name’ field. Use the dropdowns to choose which fields to match. Any required columns will show up bolded with an asterisk. Click Save once you are finished mapping.

    Tip

Don't have one of the required fields on your sheet? You can always use the append tool to add a column and set a contact for the field instead of re-importing the file.

  • Once the data is mapped, always run a 'test and validate' before doing a direct import. You will see what records will be successful and which will fail.

  • Once your test and validate has finished processing, click on the import name, and select View Data to view the errors.

  • Once you fix your errors, do another test to ensure all of the data will be imported correctly. If your second test does not return any errors, then you can click the Direct Import option. This is what will actually bring the new data into your system.
