Compensation History for Tracking Project Costs
The system account owner can add compensation history for other users. The account owner can also give access to any other user to view or change compensation history. The user’s compensation will calculate their rate, which is used to track labor costs across all of your projects. Any hours entered by a user, who has a rate, will show up in your work effort cost report, project metrics, and project status report. You must be the account owner to manage compensation.
An account owner can go to Settings > Users > Compensation Access to give access to any other user. There are no user permissions for access, it must be given from this page.
Important
Do not give access to someone if you do not want them to see other people's compensation.
Once a user has access, they can go to HR > Compensation History to add or update a user’s compensation. When you add a record, you must set a salary and change date. You can add a fringe %, which will add to the compensation. Fringe % is for items like bonuses/commissions.
Enter the expected annual hours to come up with the employee’s rate, which is required for tracking project labor costs. You can also associate a specific expense account to the user. Use the change date to update users compensation.
Warning
Changing a current salary will affect your past labor cost figures. If you wish to enter new compensation to account for a yearly raise, for instance, you should enter a new compensation record rather than changing the existing one.
On the Compensation History page, if you check the 'Include All History' option, the table will include the compensation history for each user. If left unchecked, you will only see the most recent compensation record.
With compensation access, a user can see the Work Effort Cost Report. The report allows you to see user and vendor labor costs based on hours entered on projects. Labor cost is calculated by taking the users rate and the hours they put towards a task.
A user can also view labor costs on the Project Status Report and project's Metrics tab.
