Managing line item pricing

You can have a lot of flexibility when it comes to pricing your line items. Most items will have a default gross price that is set up on the rate card, service, or product. But users can have the option to discount any line item based on the item setting and their discounting permissions.

  • The most flexible form of pricing is user-defined pricing. The user-defined pricing is set at the ad size, service, or product level. When an item is set to user-defined pricing, the gross field will be editable, otherwise, it will be greyed out. The system will pull in the rate defined on the rate card or product if it is set.

  • When an item isn't set to user defined pricing, you can only change the net value of the item.

    • Net Field: The Net field is the simplest way to change the amount of the line item. You can enter in the amount you want to charge the customer for the item.

    • Amount: Use this field if you know you want to give the customer a specific discount for each line item, e.g, give them $100 of the time.

    • Percentage: Use this field if you know you want to discount the times by a set percentage amount, e.g, 20% off each line item.

    • Unit Price: This option is only available for digital items and servies.. You can change the unit price, which will create a discount based on a per unit basis. For example, if you are selling 10 units at a $5.00 unit price and change the unit price to $4.00, the system will discount the item by 20%.

  • If you want to provide a discount and give the reason for the discount, You can add Named Discounts and Ad Hoc discounts to your line items.  These discounts can  add a percent or flat discount amount to line items and add the name/reason will display on your contracts for your customer to see why they are receiving the discount.

  • You can apply taxes to your line items. Your system can have a default tax rate, which will apply to all line items or you can set up a tax table with different tax rates and description. You can override the tax rate on a case-by-case basis. You can also mark service as tex exempt.
