Set up Company Categories
A Company Category in Ad Orbit is what type of business your customer is in. All companies must have at least one, primary category, but can have as many additional, secondary categories as desired. You can use your Company Categories to connect to specific publications and find companies that should advertise in those publications. There are reports that will break down your sales by category, and you can restrict ad placements in MagBuilder by assigning pages categories.
To create and manage your Company Categories, go to Settings > Contacts > Company Categories. To access this page, you need the User Permission 'Company Categories'.
To create a new category, click the +Add Category button in the top right of the page. In the popup, fill out the information, then click Save to create your category.
Name – Name is the only required field for creating a category. The name will show up in your system dropdowns. All other fields when adding or editing a category are optional.
Page Separation – The page separation will show up on your snapshot reports and can prevent a user from placing two ads too close to each other in MagBuilder.
Parent Category – You can create a hierarchy of categories and make a category a child of another. For example, you could have a parent category called 'Restaurants' and a child called 'Italian'.
SIC Code – Enter a classification code for your reference. This code will not be displayed in dropdowns throughout the site.
Default - The Default checkbox can only be set on one Company Category, and will be used as the default Primary Category when creating a new company.
To edit an existing category, click the ellipses icon on the right side of the table, and click the Edit action.
