Set the Number of Days to Determine the Next Upcoming Issue for Subscriptions
When a subscriber signs up for a new publication, the system sets a start date and issue, assuming your publication has issues set up. The system determines the first issue based on the number of days you set inSubscription Press-In House Deadline Days field on a publication and the creation date of the subscription. Each of your publications can have their own setting. For example, a weekly subscription may have a quicker turnaround than a bi-monthly subscription. By default, all publications have a 14-day buffer.
Note
The setting does not have any effect on renewals or publications with no issues, e.g, a digital issue.
To determine the number of days to set the next tissue, go to Settings > Products > Publication and Issues and add/edit a publication. Enter the number of days in the Subscription Press-In House Deadline Days field. The system default is 14, but you can set it to any number you want, including a negative number.
Once set, the subscription creation process for the user and a customer will use the publication setting and the subscription created date to determine the first issue. For example, lets say all of your issues start on the first of the month; your setting is 14 days , and a subscriber signs up on the 20th of any month. The system will add 14 days to the 20 and find the next upcoming issue. If the subscriber purchases on November 20 , the system will skip the December issue, since December 1st is outside the 14-day window,, and set the first issue to January.
Say you want an immediate turnaround. You could set the field to 0 and the subscriber's first issue could be an issue with the same day. If we use the above example of a November 20th created date, the subscriber would get the December issue.
Tip
You may want to add at least one day in case of a subscriber signing up later in the day after you sent your list to the printer.
You could also set a negative number if you want the user to start with the issue in the same month they purchased. For example, if someone signs up in the middle of the month , but you want to them to start with that month's issue, set the field to -31 days. If that same subscriber creates a subscription on November 20th, his or her first issue would be November because the system would subtract 31 days from November 20, which makes the determine date October 20.
